Grooming Services

When you make an appointment at our Sandringham dog grooming salon, you will need to book either a Haircut or Bath & Tidy.

Haircut

Your dog will receive a bath and blow wave with an all over haircut.

We would discuss style and length with you on the day.

Bath & Tidy

(The maintenance groom)

Your dog will receive a bath and blow wave We will finish with running a fine tooth comb through the coat to ensure there are no knots.

Also provided with this service will be, nail cutting, inside the ears plucked and cleaned (if appropriate) and anal gland checked and released (small breeds only).

About our Haircuts

We understand that most people don’t want their dogs haircut too short. We have a range of extension combs available to suit your dogs coat, which we use to clipper the hair off the dogs back and sides, then we finish with hand scissoring of the legs and face. This creates a soft teddy bear/puppy appearance.

Also provided with this service is, nail trim, ears cleaned and we will lightly trim the face, feet and bottom. Double coated dogs, such as: Pekinese, Golden Retriever, Border collie, will most importantly have their undercoat extracted.

About our Bathing

All dogs are hand washed, using quality shampoo that is Ph balanced for dogs. We have a range of medicated shampoos and conditioners, should your dog require instead.

Expectations

Our goal is to thoroughly clean your dog then give them the haircut you requested.

However there are a few variables that prevent us achieving 100% success rate.

Coat condition

Our extension combs and scissoring techniques require the coat to be pin knot free. Often when dogs are knotty (Matted) it is along the skin line, in which case there is no other option but to clip/shave the coat off.

Behaviour

Some dogs will not even give the groomer a reasonable amount of co-operation. They can manipulate, twist and pull their legs to the point where they are impossible to groom safely.

Requirements and Tips

Before you arrive for your appointment

It is compulsory that your dog be on a flea preventative treatment.

Each individual flea lays an egg an hour. Whilst we do everything we can to control our environment with flea and tick sprays and bombs, it is ultimately the customers responsibility to ensure their dog is protected from fleas. If your dog has fleas use a capstar tablet (available at most vet clinics) this kills fleas 30 minutes prior to your appointment. this will minimise accidents in our store. We recommend Comfortis as an ongoing preventative.

Dogs must enter and Exit the premises secured by a collar and leash, do not remove the collar and leash upon your arrival.

Please make sure your dog is vaccinated and immunised.

If your dog is over 6 months of age He/She must be Desexed.

Please make sure your dog has relieved themselves prior to their appointment.

Please Inform the Groomer

  • If your dog suffers any health issues such as:
  • Arthritis
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes
  • Pancreatitis
  • Knee Reconstructions
  • Skin conditions for e.g.; yeast infections, hot spots

Before service It is your duty of care to inform staff if you suspect your dog to be aggressive towards other dogs or the groomer.

After Grooming Care

Grooming can be a stressful event for some dogs and present challenging tasks. We understand their anxiety and minimise it with our compassion.

Grooming can be mentally and physically exhausting for dogs. Your dog may be tired after his groom and want nothing more than a drink and food with a good nights rest. This is completely normal! Puppies and Older dogs will be extra sleepy.

Don’t forget to give your dog lots of praise and tell him how beautiful he looks!

Treat your dog the same as before he had a hairy! No pointing and laughing, Dogs have feelings too!!!

We recommend long hair dogs are groomed every 6 – 8 weeks. Make sure you are brushing and combing your dog. The teeth of the comb need to touch the skin so that mattes don’t develop.

You may want to book in a maintenance groom in-between cuts, so we can thoroughly comb them for you.

Please provide us with 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment.

Re-book to avoid disappointment.

Our Process

We ask that you arrive somewhere between 8:30am and 10am (9am – 10am Saturdays) Collection times are provided to you on the day. The early bird customers generally request around lunchtime collection. However we also try to send puppies, old or unwell dogs and noisy dogs home first. If you’re unable to drop your dog off in the morning, a lunchtime drop off can be organised however your dog will not be sent home until 5pm.

We work in a team.

All dogs will be prepared in the morning, then bathed and dried throughout the day with final styling started from 11:30am and every 1/2 an hour roughly a dog goes home.

Large dogs take a long time to dry and that is why we send them home later in the day so we can work on them in stages to get all the undercoat out.

A lot of people leave their dogs with us until school pick up time or after they have finished work. if you are concerned about how long your dog is with us its best to show up at 8:30am and request a collection time between 12 – 1pm.

It can be difficult for us to pinpoint and exact time your dog will be finished as we have no idea what condition all the dogs will be in that day and how they feel like behaving.
